How I packed our family of 3 for a year abroad

I love puzzles. I love riddles. I even love untangling knotted up necklaces. So, needless to say, I was looking forward to packing myself, my husband and our 2 year old for a year abroad. 

 First things first, we needed bigger luggage. This was as easy as heading to HomeGoods! We scored 2 XL suitcases for about $120.  

 Now for the fun part: Fillin’ ‘er up!! I’m not going to lie, I packed and repacked several times. I began a few days before and edited at least once a day. Then, the day before we left, my husband realized that unless we wanted to pay to check the luggage, they needed to be under 50 lbs. Seriously!? One suitcase was 60 lbs and the other was over 80! We had one last edit to do and this is when things go really real. Here’s a breakdown of what we ended up with and, now that we have been here a week, it’s honestly MORE than enough!
